No photographs please
We have had a request from http://by_elections.blogspot.com/ for a photograph of our candidate , Brian Gardner to add to their site . Our reply was as follows :
" I am afraid that the visitors to your blog-spot will have to remain disappointed with the lack of photograph from the Socialist Party candidate , Brian Gardner . We have a policy that it is the Party's case that should be voted upon , not the Party's face . It is the politics not the personality . Note also the lack of biographical information on the candidate in the election leaflet . We want you to vote for the Socialist Party , not the man "

Surely Mr Allan, the "party's face" is what we ought to see? Is not the "party's face" the "party's case" the same thing? It does no harm to post the "man's face" - indeed, voters may recognise his face in the Livingston street.
Is his face a nice face? All in the eyes of the viewer, really. While his face will not please everyone, equally, it wont offend everyone.
Please show Mr Gardner to the voters and the world.
